Small Ride.

This has been the first day I had a chance to take a spin since I think the third week of November.
Weather is pretty good at 60 degrees and sunny and the better part is I'm on vacation. It's been in the 60's a few days this month but the mornings are barely into the 30 degree range. I'm, I guess a little lazy and don't want to ride to work like the black Michelin man puffed up with layers. It's much better doing my 25 mile commute in the truck with a hot cup of coffee. Once the mornings are starting out in the 40 degree range I'll roll out on the bike to commute.

The "plan" was to ride over to the Buddhist temple and take a bunch of photos. Going there on a Tuesday afternoon you would think it would be empty but no!! It was packed with about 80 cars and I was the only white person in the whole place. I did not even get off the bike because I was afraid they might call the police for trespassing. I just snapped a quick picture of one of the structures.

This place just demands more pictures!! I'll be back..

RD brake light and licence light

So it's time to get this bike on the road since I've been blowing it off for something like twelve years or so. I already did the headlight assembly last fall and now it's time for the back half.
I picked up two license bolts that have LED's built in and a license plate frame that has a running light and brake light in the top and bottom of it.

I picked up a Hitachi style connector so I can have a quality plug that will last..

Looks a lot like a OEM set up on a modern bike. you do need a special crimp tool and I've had one of these for a while. Here's the web site that offers connectors and tools, electricalconnection.com
Me not knowing that I'm have a picture taken of me from my nine year old. Yeah, I always kind of look pissed off.

The garage troll always has to get in the pictures!! :)

The new plate assembly, the top plate bolts are the LED's for the plate lights.

Nice wiring mess with tons of heat shrink. I used small zip-ties to hold all the wiring down to the back of the plate bracket. Nothing worse than a sloppy wiring job==NOT on my bikes!!

I have ten wires that need to be reduced down to three and it has to be a clean lasting job.

Down to three and only needing one large tube of heat shrink to tidy it up.

other half on and ready to go.

done!!

RD400 warm-up on the choke.

Running as clean as a two stroke can! :)

Got 2 tickets and went to take care of them!

Got 2 tickets on my RD 400 and went to take care of them . So I went over to the DMV to register the bike and get the title clear in my name. Simple enough, right! All went well till I hopped in my truck to look at the plate and vehicle sticker!!pretty sweet that the plates are good till 2064, 54 years of free and clear!!
Not really I went back in and had them fix it and they were baffled as what to do but they got it done.
These thing always seem to happen to me and thats fine..

KLR650 tech day here april 3rd

I'll be hosting a Chicago tech day. We did one last fall at my
place and it was great. Figure we will start wrenching at 8AM
and go to about 5pm depending on how much needs to get done.

I have tools for the Doo and all the standard stuff for KLR
work.
You can also do tires here and oil changes. I'll take care of
disposing the oil but if your leaving old tires it will be
$2.50 a tire to dump it.
